Mangla was arrested on 6 November 2025 from his native village Sarmathla (near Sohna, Gurugram district) after an intensive search by the Crime Branch, spanning multiple states (Haryana, UP, Bihar).During the recovery of a hidden firearm near Kabulpur village, Mangla opened fire on a police team from a pile of stones. Police retaliated and shot him in the leg; he is now hospitalised in stable condition. The police recovered a country-made pistol, four live cartridges and two spent shells at the spot.
